While visiting schools in Malawi during his Summer vacation back in 2010, Lawrence O'Donnell, host of MSNBC's of The Last Word, noticed that the kids were lacking in the fundamentals of the schoolhouse experience -- they didn't have desks or chairs. So two years ago he co-founded the "K.I.N.D.: Kids in Need of Desks Fund" in partnership with UNICEF. The fund supplies the financial means to build desk and chair units for rural schools in Malawi.
