MSNBC's Richard Lui joined Pres. Jimmy Carter and Habitat for Humanity in the rebuilding efforts of Haiti from the destruction of the devastating earthquake in 2010. Richard was one of 600 volunteers from around the world that positively impacted the Haitian community by building 100 homes. During a break from building, Richard sat down with the former president to discuss service, Mid-East peace and politics. See below for Pres. Lui almost flunked out of high school twice and when he did graduate, was not able to afford college and took a job at Mrs. Fields Cookies. He found the motivation and resources to enroll at City College of San Francisco and discovered his passions through debate and working on a political campaign.
